Self Review Part 4 (What is ISO?)

1. ISO is the measurement of the camera sensor's sensitivity to light.

2. A lower ISO number means that more light is required.
(the lower the number, the less sensitivity your camera is to light and the finer the grain)

3. HIGH ISO value means the sensor will be MORE sensitive to light, meaning it will take LESS LIGHT to get the right exposure.

4. LOW ISO indicates low sensitivity to light but generally higher resolution with less "noise" or "grain".

5. ISO indoor vs outdoor.

a) ISO 50 : outdoors /  sunlight  (low grain / noise)

b) ISO 1600 : indoors / no flash (high grain / noise)

5. ISO setting are often rated at 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and even 3200 on some models.

a) If outside in sunny conditions : ISO 100 or 200

b) If the sky is overcast or it is evening time or in a darkened room : ISO 400 to 800

c) If night time or on low light : ISO 1600
